My beaver. . . I mean baby, likes to chew into the wood of her crib. The straight sides have a plastic guard over it; however the curved head and end sides are exposed. When she is quiet in her room (or perhaps when light from the full moon pours through her bedroom window, transforming her into a beaver-by) she must be staning at the end of her crib and lick the crib until she finds a spot that she likes to bite into. OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again. I first noticed small bite marks about 3 or 4 months but I didn't put much thought into this because I thought she would grow out of this quickly. I mean, how is this appealing. But I noticed yesterday that the biting has not stopped and it is clear that she is licking the varnish off the rest of the edge. Can anyone suggest something here. I can't think of something that would be flexible to cover the edge the right way, but not be bite-able. Can you?

Well, you certainly can't say she isn't getting enough fiber! Good luck with that!
This is Joyce. Wow, she is really going to town with that chewing. Maybe you could put that foam rubber over it that they use to wrap around household water pipes. Possibly she would not like the taste or feel of it.

Well I have NO idea, but perhaps call the crib manufacturing company & see what they would suggest?

My daughter did this, too, but not until she was older, and almost out of her crib. So not nearly the damage, or slivers, involved.
I solved it by getting her into a toddler bed. In other words, I didn't find a good solution.

Ruby chews on our coffee table like this when she is teething (and it seems to take about 3 months before the darn teeth actually appear). Then we get a reprieve. She also chews on our kitchen chairs & the bars on our counter stools - whatever she can reach.
So basically ... if you find a solution would you let me know, too?? Thanks!! (and right now? I'm glad she hasn't started on her crib. I hadn't even thought of that...)
